Even more critically, Kennedy and Ford both saw Pacific action in the Navy during WWII.

Trying to wrap my head around the unintended consequences of converting that stretch of Elm into a pedestrian mall, hadn’t even thought about the perpetual flotilla of DoorDash drivers.

At the H Mart
I walked through the doors
And I grabbed me a cart
I walked past the sushi
And also sashimi
And then I heard something cheesy…

Fine and dandy, but given Gold Gloves have only been around since 1957, and Silver Sluggers since 1980, who earlier might fit into this group? Gehrig?

Break it down into procurement & divestment. Given that the city has already divested from fossil fuels, seems relatively simple to expand upon that.

Procurement is obv difficult to address, redefining qualifications might be a 1st step. There’s a reason there’s not a fleet of Yugos from the 80s

I’m not sure you realize how much of a bullet you dodged there, I just watched that video and ran out and bought a couple of cans of Pringles.

Chris - wondering what your view is regarding Medford’s broader, less divisive resolution that their council passed (and was then vetoed by their mayor, ostensibly for further consideration). Seems like it achieves everything Question 3 here would and then some, but without being inflammatory

Can you port the playlists of others? Matthew Perpetua @fluxblog.bsky.social has incredible amount of well-curated annual and other playlists (e.g. 400-500 songs for each year in the 1970s) I’d love to see elsewhere.

The Northeast is still trying to recover from the collective effects of the 2003 and 2004 ALCS.

No idea how King Hill never made it big (way back in the day) but he did go on to become a successful TV show, so at least he had that going for him.

There’s something to be said about the stubbornness of whoever kept insisting on building a new HQ there, when the visionary approach would have been a land swap with the developers at the Star Market site on Broadway. How much money did the city burn on the design of the HQ?

Maybe the Sox clinching last night was a blessing in disguise for the Tigers? I think one Tigers win or Astros loss puts Detroit in, and Boston pretty much has a lock on the five seed - so I’ve got to root for the Yankees to win the division, ecch

As a Red Sox and Tigers fan, I had misinterpreted the standings a couple of days ago and envisioned both of them knocking each other out of the playoffs this weekend.

Back then? The smoking, drinking and the lack of sunscreen was the trifecta of looking older than your years.

Sparky Anderson was a coach with the Padres in 1969, when he was all of 35. I’m willing to wager he spent every minute of his spare time at the beach that season

Yeah, eminently more helpful to know over 60% of the ballots cast a vote for Will Mbah instead of 15% of the total non-blank ballots in the at-large race.

Back in the day when Jon Stewart was dissing Arby’s on the regular, the one that stuck with me was “Arby’s: when your hunger is greater than your memory…”

Delightfully, kindly, slow paced show. It’s comfort food.

Also from back in the day: Mr. Dressup, with his friends Casey and Finnegan. The puppeteer who dreamt up Casey in 1967 specifically did not mention gender, so more children could identify with them. Canadian TV, light years ahead…

To some extent, I can see the wisdom in anyone not wanting to follow 200k people on any sort of social media.

Maybe Jon Stewart had it right. Back in the day, he followed just one account on Twitter…
