Last Thursday, Oct. 2, an explosive fire broke out at Chevron’s El Segundo refinery, underscoring the danger of weakening California’s environmental protections. As state rollbacks leave residents at risk, PCL is working to strengthen safeguards against industrial pollution.

200+ groups are calling on legislators to fix SB 131. This bill’s CEQA exemption for “advanced manufacturing” could greenlight toxic projects near homes and schools without environmental review. It also leaves endangered species habitats unprotected.
