Right now, an app provider can privately store data about you on their own servers, and only publish select (public) data to your PDS. It depends on how the app decides to implement atproto.

Ideally, once PDS support storing private data, it will be stored there instead of on the apps server.

Kinda the opposite actually. That sounds more like traditional platforms where everything is centralized. Atproto allows decentralization of data. Yes, it is publicly available if you know where to look, but it is spread out between hosts. You can even host your own data by self hosting your PDS.

Depends on your idea of safe, if safe means private, atproto is a very public place.

If safe place means freedom to be yourself without hurting others, just maybe, moderation provides that if done right.

The good thing about atproto is transparency about data collected, and ownership of data.

I think about this constantly. not only could someone intentionally do something nefarious, someone could potentially recursively delete records by accident.

In the meantime, until scoped oauth is fully rolled out, remember that bsky.social/account/ exists and allows revoking oauth access.

Pains me to say our lexicons use the “publication” / “document” naming convention for the sake of everyone’s doing it 😩 but we will be sticking with “blog” / “post” on the front end 🤗

These are so cute ! We are sticking with premade themes for now to keep things simple and enhance readability, but definitely custom themes are in consideration.
