A map of the locations and growing season lengths of origin for genotypes and leaf strength distribution for three switchgrass subpopulations. The Gulf subpopulation had the strongest leaves, followed by the Atlantic subpopulation, and then the Midwest subpopulation. Leaves from plants originating from sites with long growing seasons were typically stronger than those from sites with shorter growing seasons.
