I guess it uses the Android or iOS notification system. It's tied to the app you installed.

Why, though? Who hasn't experienced their gadgets failing promptly after warranty expiration? The producers themselves do not need to "plan" for obsolescence when the thousands of components their devices are made up of are sold TO the manufacturers with a reliability rating already.

A good use case for smartness in your dishwasher is to have it start when the electricity prices are the lowest every night, and return diagnostic information. People are talking about it like connectivity has replaced reliability. I do not think it has. Connectivity is way cheaper than reliability.
