There are a lot of well-meaning people at The Ocean Cleanup. I have no doubt their hearts are in the right place. But their ocean plastic fishing is a huge distraction at best, and a dangerous gamble at worst. We can all do better. [end 🧵]

The Ocean Cleanup is using boats & a net to collect ocean plastic (left). I've circles all the animals trapped in their early prototypes (right).

There are better ways to solve the ocean plastic problem... 🧵
