The New Deal saved American capitalism (and capitalists) from far more violent scenarios, yet in their hubris and entitlement they've been trying to roll it back ever since. You want to bring back the days of guillotines or dynamite, hedge fund and tech bros? FAFO.
When things get bad enough, the people explode. The New Deal and Civil Rights reforms pressure valves were meant to keep lower class unrest from building up too much steam

But elites, arrogant from the relative peace and prosperity of the late 20th c., have been steadily dismantling both
Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter scared elites shitless. They were spontaneous eruptions of popular anger at the status quo that organically spread like wildfire around the world.
