that said a lot of stuff was left ambiguous on purpose and the chalices are the "oh shit we ran out of money and dev time" part of the game so it could also be that the two roms are not the same and rom as an entity is required for the ritual. idk i love bloodborne

i think if anything her being found in the chalices means she couldnt have been a scholar because thats all set before byrgenwerth got there, and also pthumerians were the only ones doing weird shit with the great ones so theres that too

maybe rom was a pthumerian that became a great one (shes a kin) and was later taken to the lake by the crazy college people instead of being a crazy college person herself

im rusty on bloodborne lore by now but rom is also found in the chalice dungeons which are kind of replicas/dreams of the past (since pthumerians are still around there and the queen is still pregnant) so it can also be said based on micolash saying something like "grant us eyes as you did to rom"
