I will however still be serving as secretary of the Northern Acquired Brain Injury Forum and hope to still contribute where I can to the ongoing work of the UK Acquired Brain Injury Forum.

I feel very privileged to have served for over 15 years with a fantastic group of trustees whom give their time so willingly to support the ongoing campaign and help to provide important education and support to all those supporting people following brain injuries.

Des O’Meara whom we sadly lost last year helped set up Northumberland Head Injuries Service a jointly NHS and local authority community based service which was ahead of its time. Des was hugely knowledgeable about all things brain injury as well as being one of the nicest men you are likely to meet.

I was nominated to join the committee by two absolute legends in the Brain Injury world Stephen McAleese and Des O’Meara. Stephen whom had battled from a locked in syndrome following a bout of meningitis to return back to work supporting others and supported and helped set up Headway North Cumbria.
