I think we all learned a lot this morning - looking forward to reading this!
We had a great Talkin' Baseball session this morning with @jimleeke speaking with us about his new book "Big Loosh". Sounds like an interesting book about an interesting and troubled baseball personality. Thanks again, Jim!

So, a new pope….the big question is, is he a Cubs or a White Sox fan?

A great talk this morning. Pete Browning is buried in the same cemetery in Louisville as Muhammad Ali and Colonel Harlan Sanders of KFC fame. A beautiful place to visit if you're down that way and into that sort of thing (I am).
We had a great Talkin' Baseball meeting this morning with Tim Newby who told us about his book and Pete Browning, the original Louisville Slugger. Is he a HOF snub? That's a good thing to debate over a beer or two...

Will's a good speaker. This was his first SABR talk, but he'll be speaking to other SABR chapters in the coming days and weeks.
Many thanks to Will Bardenwerper for speaking with a good Talkin' Baseball crowd this morning about his new book "Homestand" (out on March 11) about small town baseball and community. Lots of great insights and lots of great questions.

This is always a good meeting.
Happy to be a guest today at the Baltimore Babe Ruth Chapter’s annual SABR Day meeting at the historic Peabody Heights Brewery. Here, Charlie Vascellero is captivating the audience, talking about MLB’s game last Summer at Rickwood Field.

This is always a great event! And big shout-outs to @notmrtibbs.com, @tonycal.bsky.social, and @shutthedore.bsky.social for their great work every year with the HOF Tracker. This helps get some of us through the cold Winter!
Another great Talkin' Baseball meeting is in the books. Many thanks to @jayjaffe.bsky.social for making time for us to share his HOF thoughts and insights. Lots of good questions and good answers. Looking forward to the announcement of the voting results on January 21!

The benefit of going thru boxes in the basement in advance of some major home remodeling is that I finally dig out my childhood baseball cards. I’ve talked about revisiting my 1970 and 1971 collections; now perhaps I will. Are there on-line versions of the check lists?

Oof, gut punch for the Yankees.

I loved Soto’s time with the Nats, so I’m glad to see him stay in the NL East.

Many thanks to Erik Sherman for joining us on Talkin' Baseball this morning to discuss his book "Dewey" about Dwight Evans. Erik was a great guest and very generous with his time. Dwight could be on the Contemporary Player HOF ballot next year - will he get in?

Watching Rudolph tonight, on NBC for the 1st time in 50+ years. First impression - Santa and the other reindeer are really assholes, at least to start.

Fun time today as National Postal Museum curator Danial Piazza gives a tour to SABR members of the “Baseball: America’s Home Run” exhibit. Bob Davids chapter VP Ed Baranoski, who organized the event, listens intently.

Just finished hosting Melissa Ludtke on the Bob Davids SABR chapter's Saturday morning Talkin' Baseball monthly meeting. Her new book "Locker Room Talk" is a detailed accounting of her successful lawsuit against Bowie Kuhn and MLB.
Female Reporters Finally Granted "Equal Access" to the Locker Room 3/9/79

After Melissa Ludtke of Sports Illustrated won her law suit to enter the locker room in Ludtke v Kuhn (1978), #MLB fearing more law suits by female reporters, rescinded their discriminatory policy
