Hi!

I am a PhD grad student at Iowa State University, studying planet formation and planetesimal populations in our solar system. I use hydrodynamic simulations on high-performance computing clusters.

I also talk comic books, video games, politics, and cat ownership!!
How I managed to live 22 years without eating a plantain astounds me

The fact that being a Beatles fan or a Beatles hater keeps cyclically going in and out of fashion even 55 years after their breakup is evidence that their influence can never be understated
More men need to tell us they've never been a fan of The Beatles. It shows an independence of thought but also profound intellectual insight; a refusal to run with the herd. I especially like to see it in response to someone expressing their love of the group. It's outspoken, contrary and brave.

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!
