My buddy's ditch weed and a manga on this Saturday morning lethargy 🫡

10/10 Akane Torikai has me fucked up. Check the trigger warnings. This is a complex drama with NUANCE. Reminds me of Sayaka Murata minus the surrealism.

The void creature survived the vet's office, and the verdict is in: the void is a neutered, year old grimalkin!

Got his annual vaccs and rabies done, and we're all agreeing that he was likely dumped. He's gaining weight and looking better!

We're calling him Morgan Blackhand. Morgue, for short.

Introduced my nephew to Cowboys and Aliens and he loved it. Freaking huge win. 💪

Library hold cane in just in time, too!
Bold choice opening a Western on the back of a two year old horse.

I worked 2yo horses once upon a time.

Bold choice. 😂

Waifu and I found a kitten lying in the street last night. There is a TNR group and a small colony in our neighborhood, but this guy wasn't ear tagged and he was not moving. I think a neighbor adopted him and was trying to keep him as an outside cat. He is...not outside cat material.

Take me away, Cruncy.

Take the wheel.

Carry me while I can no longer walk.

Insert more clever savior metaphors.

I've pretty much just been sleeping ever since I signed this job offer. 🤯

Insane how much stress and anxiety takes a toll on a body.

Treated myself to the last gn in my pull at the local shop before I croaked, though. 💕

Continuing to try new things in a never ending pursuit of dissociation and dopamine, I have learned I like light novels!

From the depths of my hoard, I wanted something light, cozy, and a bit silly. Lots of familiar tropes in cute, new packages that made this a carefree romp with whimsy.

Damn it.

The horse girl game got me.

No reading getting done this week. 😫

Anyway here's me circa 2012 in my prime horse girl era on the best damn horse to exist: Playboy Doc Quixote.

We did no jousting.

My library app has me down pat.

This is the funniest, gayest thing I have listened to. I feel like I'm at the club in 1947 San Fran placing bets on the butch bouncer beating cops with a dildo.

Mel Brooks humor; prepare for slurs, slang, and slogans from interwar San Francisco.

Which, I realize, also pulls huge influence from Tracy Baptiste and her Jumbies books that everyone should read.

Continuing my adventures with Agatha Christie and Poirot, with book #2: The Murder on the Links.

I can't believe I'm reading about a golf course. 😆

I don't usually enjoy books about nobility doing all their privileged shenanigans, but Christie has a nice touch of satire in her characters.

Gdi I sobbed big, fat tears.

I should've seen it coming. But I was just la-dee-da enjoying a slice of life as told by a cat then WHAM! Right in the feels. 😭

How one sassy cat unintentionally brought people together to say goodbye.

My current audiobook is an absolute riot and has brought me a lot of great guffaws the past few days. My dad raised me on Sinbad stories as we island hopped across the Pacific. Amina is a grand entry into the pirate adventuring cannon and I don't want to finish my first journey with her. 🫠

The Dred Scott Case has loomed over the region of St. Louis for almost 170 years. The old historic court house standing before the gateway arch is an iconic symbol of American courts failing its people.

St. Louis is a conlfuence city--by river, road, and air.
ICE replaced slave catchers.

Also spending time revisiting the work of Audre Lorde.

A Litany For Survival (1978), from The Black Unicorn

Lorde continues to be a voice of support, guidance, and comfort as we see the country devolve into the dregs left behind after McCarthyism.

Making myself feel better.
Reading Someone You Can Build A Nest In to my wife.
Snuggling with the cats, and the dogs are at our feet.
Our bills are paid.
Food in the pantry.
We are safe at home.

I like the UK covers a lot for John Wiswell's books a LOT. I ordered a copy off ebay. 🥹

My second attempt to read Piñata by Leopoldo Gout and I can't get into it. 😫

The prologue was a good setup, but let the cat out the bag too early. Otherwise, it's a family drama with corny dialogue and unrealistic children. Maybe it's the translation. DNF at this point. 😔 💙📚🩸📚💬

This was a Valentine's Day card a coworker gave me.

From 2018.

I binged this yesterday and I had a really good time with it! My first book by this author and it hit all those places I enjoy: found family and power in self identity during times of horse shit.

A Vietnamese-American folklore for YA readers that everyone can find empathy in. And nonbinary MC💪
