Made a cake 🎂🍰 for a friend’s viva today - was a little worried since it’s the first baking we’ve done in this kitchen, but it was a huge success! Already have a few more orders put in so looks like we’ll have a busy viva-cake-making season ahead 😅

My 7-day post-op review went well! Healing is much better than expected given the difficulty of the surgery. Settling down now for long-haul nerve recovery over the next 6-12 months. 🤕

In the meantime, I'm getting used to my new lisp! 👅

It was a complicated surgery but not too much pain yet. They say the worst is 2-3 days post-op, not looking forward to that

Have feeling back mostly everywhere except half my tongue, should recover over a few weeks

But at least for now, I get to be a chipmunk 🐿️

Was woken very early by a CO alarm (ours? the neighbours? who knows) going off. Windows open and waiting for emergency gas engineer

After about an hour searching frantically in the sand for my partner’s (very sentimental) ring, an angel named Dave appeared from nowhere with a metal detector and saved us! 🎉🥳

With cheers all round and a quick wash, and it’s as good as new (and safe at home!)👏💍
