Everything changed when I finally started budgeting monthly. I stopped guessing and started seeing the numbers clearly.

I went from living paycheck to paycheck to feeling in control. In the very first month alone, I managed to save $250—something I thought was impossible before.

1. Automate a weekly transfer to savings—when you don’t see it, you won’t spend it.

2. Cut one regular expense—skip that extra coffee or takeout and reroute the cash.

3. Sell stuff you don’t use—your old clutter might be someone else’s treasure (and your savings boost!).

5. I keep sharpening my financial knowledge

Whether it’s a podcast, a book, or a YouTube video from a trusted source, I’m always learning and adapting. That way, my financial decisions stay smart as life evolves.

4. I keep my investing strategy simple

I don’t try to be a market genius. I keep most of my portfolio in ETFs and a small portion in individual stocks — for example, 90% ETFs and 10% stocks. Broad coverage first, small risk second.

3. I don’t spend right after payday

Fresh money creates fake confidence. I don't shop for at least 7 days after getting paid to avoid impulse buys.

I also set a quarterly shopping allowance, so my wants have a hard ceiling.

2. I use a clear money split every month

I follow the 50–20–30 structure:

• 50% goes to needs like rent, transport, and bills.

• 20% goes to wants like shopping and travel.

• 30% goes to investing.

30% is high for some people, but I’m aiming for early retirement, so my plan reflects that.

1. If I can’t pay in full, I can’t afford it.

No Buy Now, Pay Later. If the cash isn’t there today, the item doesn't come home with me. Debt for lifestyle is a trap.
