A perfect moment: milkweed pods opening, seed tufts glowing in the sunlight. Occasionally the breeze lifts one gently into the air to twirl & dance away.

I stopped to capture the tranquil scene on video.

Tonttu was not content to wait for the wind to work its magic.

After being stuck indoors all day yesterday due to the rain, Zeena was extra talkative before today's walk. I made it worse by delaying our walk even further by getting video!

Tonttu took full advantage of the stream flowing out from Mound Springs Park on our warm hike today. He could not stop laying down in the stream as we hiked the path that follows it.

Pawing at riffling water was something Gypsy used to do. It's sweet that Tonttu is picking up the habit. 🥹

From that same trip: Zeena and Gypsy both enjoyed foraging for blackberries along the trail in the woodlands. Tonttu has yet to learn this skill.

Light breezes making waves across late-summer sumac several years ago.

Apparently a 4.25 mi run was not enough for Zeena or Tonttu! They had PLENTY of energy left afterwards:

Apparently, every first Wednesday of the month, 1 PM, there's a coyote party at the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge.

Sadly, neither Zeena or Tonttu could be convinced to join in.
