i won't lie, the urge to put league here was overwhelming for shock value, but i want to give riot the proper credits they deserves with its lore and showcase one of their games outside the moba. ruined king was a phenomenal experience, but maybe i have bias. : )

another classic rpg maker title, this was arguably my gateway into more "in your face" horror as opposed to off's psychological horror. i indulged in ib shortly after off, so this is quite an old favorite, but nothing beat writing notes down for the puzzles and using my brain to solve them.

i can't believe i nearly forgot this one. sonic advance was my very first introduction to the game form of media ever when my cousin visited with his gameboy. i can't even quote when exactly this was, but it paved the way for the required sonic fan phase of every 2000s kid.

i'm specifically quoting the original '97 iteration here, which i first played rather late in life during lockdown in 2020. every previous assumption about this game was blown out of the water, and left me with a newfound appreciation for the world. i have 2 tattoos from it!

normally i would just pick one, but this entire gen impacted me heavily. black was my first ever pokemon game i could call my own, and within its lifespan, i had racked up a shocking amount of 500+ hrs. this paved way for me to explore the series in most of its entirety

ah yes, the iconic pigeon dating sim vn. the only game on my steam library i've 100%'d. what started as a silly joke turned into a genuine fondness for the story you unlock in the end. the secret ending left me genuinely obsessed for a time after finishing it.

wow another throwback pick! i think only 1 person in my life would be able to recall my off phase, since it predated even danganronpa. this game introduced me into the rpg maker games, and it left a resounding impact on me, even as a 14y/o. the "miaou" in my usernames was reference to this!

this is more of a throwback pick, since this hyperfixation of mine has worn off for better or for worse, but after watching the anime adaptation all the way back in 2013, this game series had a death grip on me for the following four years after. despite it's legacy, i love it.

criminal i didn't do this first, but i wanted to ease y'all in before i throw out my #1 hyperfixation. i'm nearing 9 years of officially playing this mmo and it has become a basis of my very being. 300 characters aren't enough to describe everything i feel about this game.

we're gonna start off here pretty strong with a classic rpg maker game. (which probably won't be the last in this chain, i'm sorry) while simple, oneshot carried a heavy meaning in its choices, and i found i judge a lot of people's character based on the end choice they made.
