Finally, differences in educational attainment do not result in significant differences in levels of support for immigration for most non-European origins.

We attribute this again to solidarity ties that ethnoracial minorities maintain with immigrants

3.Perceived discrimination is positively associated with support for immigration among first and second generation immigrants.

Among the majority, the relationship between perceived discrimination and ethnoracial identity works in the opposite direction

We also find that non-European origins are more likely to support immigration compared to European origins and the majority population.

We attribute this to an ethnic solidarity mechanism among the most discriminated groups.

First, we find that first, second, and third generation immigrants are significantly more favorable to immigration compared to the French majority, net of controls.

York has seen a steep rise in racist assaults -both verbal and physical- in recent weeks. This should not be tolerated. If you are around on Saturday, join.

New article on Immigrant Attitudes toward Immigration in 🇫🇷 (w @haleymcavay.bsky.social & Justin Robinson) just accepted @ersjournal.com

Excited to have signed an editor contract with Oxford University Press for a volume on Voting Behaviour planned to come out in December 2027! We really hope this book will spark social science student interest in the discipline, especially at a time when democracy faces major challenges.

However, when accounting for potential confounding through the inclusion of individual fixed effects, we find that authoritarianism retains its significant association with anti-immigration preferences alone.

We find that authoritarianism in Britain is associated with anti-immigration attitudes, anti-EU preferences, opposition to economic redistribution, and voting for rightwing parties.

Our article w/Justin Robinson on authoritarianism in 🇬🇧 is published in the new issue of @polbehavior.bsky.social

We employ a longitudinal analysis using the @britishelectionstudy.com to investigate the causal effect of the psychological trait of authoritarianism on political attitudes and voting 🧵

Drawing on an 11-year panel we find that while owning assets correlates with support for the Tories, within person changes in patrimony (measured by the number of assets one owns or the total value of these assets) is unrelated to support for the conservatives

Labour seem to think that immigration rates work like inflation, where people can instantly tell when it goes up or down

In reality prioritising immigration on the government agenda only increases support for Reform

Do changes in wealth shape voting preferences?

We explored this question using an 11 year panel study in🇬🇧 We find no evidence that an increase in assets leads to greater support for the Conservatives

The seeming reluctance of the Greek judicial authorities to investigate major political scandals has caused a huge surge of public distrust toward the justice system (70% distrust v. 27% trust)

I just visited Bob Altemeyer's website and I was sad to learn that he passed away last month.

His contribution to political psychology was monumental and his work inspired generations of students, including myself.
