It's hard to get your head around the scale of the environmental vandalism the Labour government is hoping to unleash. The Planning and Infrastructure Bill is up there with Trump's executive orders. And the reason is the same: corporate power.

The horrifying planning bill, which rips up environmental protections, was drafted with CEOs in mind. We know because Keir Starmer told us, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

My take on White House meltdown? Trump got sucked in by JD Vance. It's Vance who has scuppered the deal and he looked pretty pleased about it. Horrifying to watch it in real time....

How big is a blank page of white paper? Sometimes, when the writing fever is burning, its a tiny scrap. Other times it's a sheer icy wall stretching to the sky. After 18 months of performing, rehearsing and recovering, i'm about to re enter the real creative process :) Regular reports incoming here

Timing and perspective are such key yet random factors in the way of things. So for example, the very qualities that made Biden, at the age of 78 the right guy to take on Trump in 2020, are the same qualities that meant he was unable to see it was time to step down well before 2024....

It's hardly surprising that Trump and gang are being mean to Keir Starmer....they are bullies and he's a nerd. I don't imagine Mandelson will have much luck either; that camp high englishness doesn't cut much mustard in Queens or Pittsburgh

A tremendous and rare victory for democracy in South Korea. The key seems to have been the quickness of response; both from the public and the institutions like the Assembly which raced to oppose the martial law edict in powerful unity. Delay would have been fatal. Both sides will be taking notes..
