I appreciate the explanation, but I still don’t quite get the Pettitte exception given this view on it. Ramirez, for instance, had over 500 HRs & 1,700 RBI before any PEDs issues developed for him. That seems to fit the Bonds/Clemens mold better than Pettitte does, as he was using PEDs much earlier.

Found a brief death notice in a Eugene, OR paper from Jan 22, 1960. Doesn’t say much, just confirms he died “recently” in Panama.

I know Austin was claiming to be only 24 on the 1950 Census when he was living in Portland, Oregon, and that he was apparently a naturalized U.S. citizen.
