The sad thing is that social media is a lifeline for a lot of young people and shouldn't require anything close to a ban but Big Tech has been so rapacious, reckless and amoral that it has legitimised authoritarian solutions. It's not the tech, it's the monsters who control it

Yes I agree. The lay person thinks of space as cold but it requires careful engineering to design cooling systems/radiators for spacecraft to reject heat to space. But billionaires have lobbyists hence US subsidiaries for oil extraction and cancelling subsidises for clean energy. Nonsense abounds.

Consider this. Data centres are extremely unpopular due to local environmental effects and all politics is local. There may be a political push to move data centres to space with government subsidies as a result. Billionaires get more billions.
