I’m convinced there is no modern entity more adept at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory than the Democratic Party.

If you’re on the left you should be holding our own people to a higher standard on this. Stop whitewashing. Stop lying. The truth is clear. This was a bipartisan fuckup and failure and no one who has shown such an utter disregard for first amendment rights should ever be trusted with power. Period.

Trump likewise deserves no credit for “fixing” a problem he created himself back when he tried to ban TikTok by fiat when he was in his first term. This is political theatre and nobody should buy it. Hell, Tom Cotton is only as vocal as he is because he has a book to sell.

Spare me the nonsense about a life or death foreign aid bill. Democrats and Republicans alike who voted for this just showed us the price tag on the first amendment. They all deserve the blame for getting to this point.

The ban on TikTok was never about national security. It was never about an app. It was and is about controlling access to information. Do you know why Elon is happy he paid 44 billion for a 9 billion dollar asset? Because the ability he has to manipulate the narrative is worth it.

But if you pushing the narrative that Republicans did this by themselves, you’re lying.
