For my election nerd friends. A live pod cast taping at the #SPSA2025 conference in Puerto Rico. @pgronke.bsky.social with Eric Fey, Brianna Lennon, and Jackie Wu.

Excited to join the SPSA meeting and share our research on elections. Bummed @alaskaair.bsky.social thinks Puerto Rico is not part of the US. Our colonial history has made a lasting impact on the island. But it is America.

I am just starting to explore our initial results from the @electionsvoting.bsky.social Local Election Official Survey. Job satisfaction remains high, though one question we ask if election admins would recommend their children go into election admin - that number has fallen from 41% in 2023.

One more from @kylewalker.bsky.social's post on work from home. The Seattle area, where West Seattle and Magnolia/Ballard are 33% work from home!!
November 16, 2024 at 11:11 PM
Playing with the PUMA data on work from home shared by @kylewalker.bsky.social - Portland has over 25% work from home in the west and inner east sides, but heading out to East Portland (District 1) the rates drop quickly.

There has been some back and forth on how to evaluate voter turn out here in Portland with our new multi-seat RCV city elections.

We are closing the annual Local Election Official Survey very soon. Most of the responses came in before the election but some final ones still returning by mail. Great response rates across the US. More about the survey here: evic.reed.edu/leo_survey_p...

Worked with data from the Portland RCV elections to explore what voters shared. Overall, races have been pretty stable across rounds. Voters seemed to have three or four camps in some districts that limited the amount of substantial vote transfers. More here: evic.reed.edu/evic-news/ma...

Based on the amount of ballots processed in time for the preliminary City of Portland RCV elections, we are waiting for the next update this evening at 6:00pm to run visualizations for Districts. The Mayor's race is probably safer to start analyzing now. evic.reed.edu/evic-news/an...

For short trips out of the Portland airport, I’ve taken to biking there. Yes I know it’s peak Portland. But today I got back and found my locker been jammed, and I needed some tools to fix it. Lucky for me. The Alaska Airlines baggage team has a whole tool kit.
