Thanks James maybe not for this project as I am way too far down my six phase analysis and making a lot of progress and need to get to my final write up phase soon!

Interesting I wonder about associations with suicide and poor housing and homelessness, particularly as the private rented population age is increasing. For single men HMO shared accomodation is the only affordable option and is where some of the worst housing conditions are to be found.

Teaching Environmental Health subjects at University. I think it started during lockdown over Teams get the students to talk make sure they are engaging, I just continued it in class. Show the slides but ask them the questions get them talking and then explain the slide in that conversation.

Ditching the notes and thinking of it as having a conversation. Asking questions and encouraging interaction. Much more fun.

Am also doing a lot with NVIVO right now. Created codes annotating interviews and now sorted into themes to address my questions. Next step is visualisation.

I am using NVIVO but I do a lot of it outside in excel and word before importing. Especially when developing themes and moving codes around.

Certainly difficult to see how it can be argued there is “not a need” when we have a disproportionate ageing population! Be interesting to see how these arguments unfold as our government embarks on a large building program.

I certainly would expect modification rather than refusal over those concerns. What I have found recently with new build (mainly flats) is that they are suitably warm in Winter (not much need to turn heating on) but in very hot Summers occupiers complain they are difficult to ventilate.

Not much detail on energy efficiency in the article, but those large window areas are concerning. Is there sufficient ventilation during extreme heat? Hopefully all EPC Band C too, affordability goes beyond market price and needs to consider running costs for OAP's.
