Born and raised in Durham, now living in Copenhagen. Observing the world from the safety of the EU. Horrified by the tragedy that has become the UK.

This next month could end up defining our place in the world. There's everything to play for. But pro-Europeans have to exert pressure in an achievable way, rather than stomping off the pitch iandunt.substack.com/p/the-battle...

Right wing populist politics has been so damaging and so brain-achingly tedious this last decade. Look at where we are as a result. Far poorer, weaker, more divided, isolated from the EU and trying not to piss off an egomaniacal lunatic in the White House. Sovereignty at its most vulnerable.

A word of advice to the Pro-Palestinian and Just Stop Oil campaigns.... next time you protest make sure you take 100 tractors with you and you'll not only get wall to wall positive coverage from BBC news but they'll also lobby the government for you too.

God I feel for the people of America. Particularly those who didn’t vote for him. We’ve had years of viciously useless Tory govts breaking things that matter to us and leaving the country in a sorry mess. But Trump and his team are frenziedly deranged. God knows how America survives this.

@carolecadwalla.bsky.social knew it earlier than most of us and paid a high price for pointing it out. She’s back now and not for a cheap ‚told you so‘.
But to warn us again. It’s late. But not too late. Just read this. 👇

Oh spare us this ridiculous procession of Tory ministers and MPs fawning over Sunak’s latest podium performance.
You lost the right to any kind of moral commentary a long, long time ago. You’re all corrupt, complicit and compromised. Give us an election and leave us alone.

This is why everything is broken. Because we aren’t being governed. The country’s wellbeing is a baton being passed around and dropped by a series of incompetent, dangerous and corrupt Tory ministers.
Nothing good comes from this festival of uselessness. Nothing.

The combined Lib Dem/Lab vote share in mid-Beds should terrify Tories. There aren't that many seats where it's so unclear which party is in 2nd place. That splitting the opposition vote wasn't enough to save a safe home counties seat points to electoral carnage for govt.
