Reading a book about wealthy people sitting out the apocalypse in a luxury hotel. Written in 1969. People really knew where we were heading and we went there anyway. Termush by Sven Holm and translated by Sylvia Clayton.

Ha - the allure of a chimney. I’ve been promising myself that I’ll revisit them and share at some point. In the meantime I’ve got one on my phone, so here y’go.

WiP on my latest drawing - the one that’s made me think I should work bigger.

This was the early stages of my previous (A3) drawing.

Just got a copy of Smallcreep’s Day by Peter Currell Brown. Anyone read it? I’ve only recently heard of it and it seems like the kind of odd I can get behind - blurb in the alt text.

My wife thought this was what m floppy discs originally looked like.

Probably time for this pencil to be put to rest. I thank you for your service.

I, Madman. Only took my 30 years or so to finally watch this. Glad I finally got round to it.

Glad I saw Good Boy at the cinema last night. It’s practically a silent movie and I concentrate so hard on them I fall asleep when I watch at home. Also, I posted the wrong poster yesterday, so here’s the real one.

Might be horror season at my local cinema, but I’m off to see The Golden Spurtle.

Time to introduce my daughter to the glorious trash that is Psychomania. Sorry Americans, you got the weaker title, The Death Wheelers.

How I spent my day. Replacing a broken fence post with a concrete one. Really enjoyed doing this all on my own and without decent tools :/

Incase it sounds like I’ve been being mean about the paint being shitty - I got 5 palettes of this stuff for 3 quid :)

A less rushed colour and pencil experiment. This time with graphite but still with the cheap paint.
October 26, 2025 at 5:43 PM
Latest colour pencil and paint experiment. I caved and broke out a 2nd colour polychromos pencil - they do draw nicely over paint. Still a wonky likeness, and the technique’s not quite what I’m after, but still fun to do.

Another quick colour pencil and cheap paint experiment. Forgot to take a pic of the pencil only version, which had a slightly better likeness.

Watched Spaceship Earth, a doc about Biosphere 2. Ends as it becomes most relevant. In the last 20 mins the sweet hippy Silicon Valley types doing Earth saving stuff with a lack of self-awareness and cult like tendencies get destroyed by their evil versions headed up by Steve fucking Bannon.
October 22, 2025 at 3:54 PM
Quick experiment with mixing colour pencil and paint… shitty paint, which might’ve been an issue. Pencil version probably looked better and the paints ruined what little likeness I’d captured, but I’ll keep messing around because it was fun.

Family film night with Housebound. As good as I remembered.

Still a WiP, but maybe not looking so rubbish as it did yesterday. Hope it keeps improving.

Rereading Michel Faber’s The Hundred & Ninety-Nine Steps- prompted by @christophcondon.bsky.social telling me he was visiting Whitby. According to the receipt I bought this when it came out. I hosted an event with Faber not long after and can’t comprehend how it was almost 25 years ago.

Looks like a hell of a film watch this week, but I only watched The Finishing Line. The other films were additions to my film diary.
