2/ but they refused to readmit him into the Party. His wife wasn't released. Where was she? Was she still alive? He wondered anxiously.

Would you imagine he was more upset by losing his wife or by losing his party membership?

He was sent to the front when the Germans invaded...

In college, I took a class on Russian culture during the Soviet years. It was taught by a Ukrainian professor who, as a child, had fled the Nazi blitz in 1941. His description of how Soviet propaganda reinforced Stalin's personality cult is something that stayed with me... (1/5)

The criticisms of TLJ are well-known. I can't believe you really need me to elaborate. Like, do some light googling? Ask an AI bot? Start with Rian Johnson's treatment of Luke Skywalker. Here, have some memes.

A less noticed fact about this nominee is that he doesn't have a college degree. If I were to seek employment as an entry-level tax associate, I would be required to have a degree. But for leading the IRS, I guess that's good enough? I dunno, it's weird that this is the best we can do.

A Macy's accountant "hid" $154 million of expenses over several years. There was no embezzlement. The expenses were legitimate. What was the motive? The article doesn't say. But it hints at incompetence and/or lack of qualified accounting personnel.

Trump's election is a national security catastrophe. He will do for Russia and China what they never could alone: destroy America's defense, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies.
