It’s knowing that your door is always open …….. Edinburgh lad. Schnauzer dad. Volunteer Ranger. Retired but not shy. Views my own. Enjoys the outdoors, company & conversation, great whisky, bourbon & rum. Struggles with extremism & guitar 🙄
The Met must have taken an extended lunch break when this was happening …..

It’s a proposal but where are the downsides? It won’t all be upsides.

Victoria Derbyshire: I’m about to describe a genuine situation created by the government …….

Darren Jones: I won’t comment on hypotheticals.

In the world as it is and not what we want it to be, how does the outdoor media not talk about politics and remain relevant? 🤔

If memory serves me correctly, I’m sure Johnson also oversold the UK’s ability to trade with the EU after Brexit. And look where we are. And look where we’ll still be after Labour’s nonsense. It’s funny how you can go off some people. 🤔

IMO the UK rightly has the heavy lifting to do to reset the relationship with the EU. That said, it is also in the EU’s interests to have a productive & reliable relationship with the UK. Worthwhile relationships arise when all parties contribute.
March 24, 2025 at 8:01 PM
I’d rejoin at the first opportunity if I could and I’d embrace the EU project too. Instead the UK is stuck in an artificial bygone era & is doomed to repeat its xenophobic ways. I have my 🤞 permanently.
March 22, 2025 at 7:59 PM
I can only agree. The EU can develop its relationship with the UK while recognising that the UK has work to do if it decides to take the path towards rejoining the EU. Reform UK is enough of a reminder that trouble is never far way.

Imagine if the EU automatically included the UK in its project to source military supplies from trusted partners & manufacturers ……. only for Farage & Tice et al to form the next (untrustworthy) UK government!

I completely understand why the EU has not automatically included the UK. 👍
March 22, 2025 at 12:08 PM
The US raises important questions about trusted partners & in response the EU has understandably decided to source its military supplies from trusted partners & manufacturers. The UK has work to do to convince the EU it is a trusted partner. Tice is the epitome of untrustworthiness.
March 21, 2025 at 7:39 AM
I agree. Unfortunately the UK & other countries I’m sure, have their fair share of “would be collaborators” who don’t like the notion of an empowered people’s democracy & who prefer the notion of a “limited” democracy ie “limited” to those with power & influence.
March 20, 2025 at 2:00 PM
The UK has had and still has a problem with its own “bad actors”. ie incompetents & leeches
March 20, 2025 at 12:45 PM
The UK chose not to be a member of the EU so I understand the EU’s stance. Fortunately the EU and the UK can still partner & cooperate if the UK is willing to be a pro-active partner. Given the UK’s recent history wrt the EU, it needs to show willing. I don’t see a problem.

More accurately he should have said “£6 billion cuts to welfare will assign another cohort of people to forever poverty”.

There are already too many people in forever poverty. Cuts will simply add more.

While the wealthy live in unfathomable luxury.

🙄

I disagree with McSweeney. Disgruntled people wouldn’t be attracted to populists if they weren’t selling “snake oil” (Comforting Lies) rather than Uncomfortable Truths.
March 15, 2025 at 6:10 PM
The origins of the EU had everything to do with ending bloody conflicts that killed & harmed millions, and creating & reinforcing peaceful cooperation between neighbours.

Why does it always have to be about the US?! 🤔
March 13, 2025 at 12:46 PM
It’s a chicken and egg situation. Which comes first? The patchy quality of government leaders or the patchy quality of educated voters who vote them in? 🤔
March 7, 2025 at 5:36 PM
Too many folk who have money complain about 2 things:

1. Paying for anything & how much it costs and

2. People who don’t have money and need help.

Leeches?

@uklabourparty.bsky.social could do worse than investing in much-needed home-grown hi-tech fighters that also supports the need to develop & grow our industrial base & expertise. What’s not to like about it? 🤔
March 6, 2025 at 8:16 PM
I recently inherited a seriously overgrown garden when I moved home. First step …. cut it back to its original lines. I discovered far too many rhodos - old & new. Second step (ongoing) …… my mattock / flat-nosed pick axe is my gardening tool of choice. 🙄 What were people thinking?!

Nigel “Unity Mitford” Farage is an apology of a human being.
