Exactly. I disagreed with a lot of his analysis of the game, but also respected his ability to get players to open up to him. His insight into their comments was always top notch.

One of my fears post-Trump is that the new DOJ will be spending so much time settling law-suits from the illegal actions of this admin against residents that they won't have any time or capacity to prosecute the people responsible properly.

It's also just essentially the same as, but slightly to the left of Fox and to the right of CNN - saying they can't just maintain their existing audience while positioning the programming to an audience of nobody? This might have been popular 15 years ago, but not now.

Absolutely. All this said though the dealbreaker is the debt. The feds have to agree to let Alberta leave, which they won't do without a deal on the debt. And Alberta will whine that they've produced so much they shouldn't take any debt with them. And that'll be the end of it.

This is it here - when the Quebec referendums were ongoing, they at least had built up much of their own infrastructure that was independent of the federal government (including foreign affairs) - and they still voted no.

Banff and Jasper are 2 of the most profitable and well visited national parks. There wouldn't be a transition to Alberta, they would just be absorbed by BC. One of the many, many reasons they will never separate.

They pushed mass deportation for ratings, but the reality is they care more about cheap labour. They didn’t expect the people they helped get into power would actually follow through in this manner.

It's dumb to run on, but it's more problematic when they win. Removing tariffs would have an immediate impact but beyond that there's no plan to actually lower costs. Running on anything else is better because you can make tangible changes quickly.

World Cup protest feels like a stretch. These countries are all democracies and I feel like voters would punish them for it. Or worse, some countries go while others don't and it starts to create friction within the EU

Everything is television to Trump. He doesn’t care about the violence but he does care about ICE agents looking like out of control hacks instead of heroic cops. He cares that most people think this too and it reflects poorly on him.

It's murky if incentives actually work, but most people want to be financially stable before having kids. I think the left in the US has been pretty clear that universal health care, paid maternity leave, and universal pre-k could help solve this problem.
