#Pillion is an interesting film examining sexual submission and desire. Even when aloof Alexander Skarsgård is a charismatic screen presence.

#SpringsteenDeliverMeFromNowhere is basically a Wikipedia article with no nuance. One note performances and a dull meandering story make this tough to get through.

‪#NoOtherChoice is typical Park Chan-Wook. Very funny, very gross, but a little overstuffed. Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-Jin are fantastic throughout. ‬

Proof that talent isn’t genetic Anemone is loud, boring and a poor use of Daniel Day-Lewis

#IsThisThingOn? Was a bloody delight. Funny, heartfelt and career best work from Will Arnett. I loved it, had a little cry and also loved Ciaran Hinds’ cardigan

#TheMastermind did nothing for me except send me to sleep. I liked the aesthetic and Josh O’Connor cosplaying at Elliot Gould but nothing else stirred me.

‪GDT hits his pinnacle in #Frankenstein a lavish, gorgeous take. Isaac is impressive and Elordi shows he’s actually got considerable depth. Heartbreaking, thrilling, kinda gross. Pure GDT!‬

‪#HisforHawk is a lovely examination of grief and the bond between humans and animals. It’s a little twee in places but Claire Foy is a wonderful presence who makes the palpable pain clear. Sure to become a film4 favourite ‬

If you like your movies enigmatic then #IfIHadLegsIdKickYou is for you. Lead by Rose Byrne’s excellent central turn the film is darkly comic and strange but does offer plenty of food for thought.

#Hedda is a soapy romp with terrifically loathsome characters. Thompson x DaCosta need to make a million more films together if they can be as darkly funny as this.

‪Tackling a thorny issue with mixed results #AfterTheHunt is another interesting film from Guadagnino. Four superb performances and a weird score make this one a tough pill to swallow. I liked the debates i had after more than the movie.‬

#Hamnet is a slow build to an emotionally rich finale. Zhao is still a beautifully sensitive director and allows stars Buckley and Mescal to do some amazing work.

‪#Fucktoys is a gladly weird episodic fever dream lead by a charming Annapurna Sriram. It’s not going to be for everyone but those who embrace its daddy sensibility will have a blast. Sriram is a talent to watch.‬

‪#BadApples could have been an interesting look at the difficulties teaching in the modern age. Instead it’s a histrionic fear mongering piece populated by weak teachers, psychotic kids and aggressive parents. Soairse Ronan is good though.‬

#WakeUpDeadMan is another terrific, if slightly darker, yarn from Johnson. A heartfelt meditation on faith with an always enjoyable Daniel Craig. The real stand out is Josh O’Connor though, and some excellent stylistic choices. I could watch eighty of these.
