I think it's pretty normal. Both, to have papers rejected and to feel down about it. Yet, a rejection should never be brutal. It should be based on facts and constructive.
And I try to not worry too much about paper rejections as long as my proposals get funded 😅

Hatte vor Jahren mal ne lustige Erfahrung: wir standen vor der Konzerthalle und warteten noch auf eine Freundin. Dann lief sie auf der gegenüberliegenden Straßenseite vorbei, den Blick starr aufs Handy gerichtet. Das Navi wollte sie noch einmal um das Gebäude herumführen 😂
