Yesterday we finished filming a video about the clothing of Anne Boleyn based on the National Portrait Gallery painting by an unknown English artist in the late 16th century, but based on a work of circa 1533-1536. Anne was played by Andreanne Rellou, the photograph was taken by @nrloven.bsky.social

Apart from making films for museums and our YouTube channel (Crow’s Eye Productions), we (@nicoleloven) also do book cover photography for Arcangel Images. This example, Princess Elizabeth, the future Elizabeth I, is holding her mother Anne Boleyn’s necklace. #Tudors #Elizabeth1

His name is JJ and he is almost 18, thoroughly spoilt and super chill - absolutely marvellous with the baby grandchildren. Here he is coming in for an affectionate nose boop.

Garden, plus cat, both of which bring me joy, and, I hope they bring some joy to you too.

In view of Starmer’s bigoted and inhuman response to the rights of transgender women, it was heartwarming to see this very positive statement from LUSH UK while shopping this morning. Well done LUSH 👏🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️

We cast with care, and pay all our actors, MUA’s and hair artists well, and find the very best locations to film in. We strive for the highest production values, and @nrloven.bsky.social
directs, films and edits all the material herself. Our craft is expensive, but there are no short cuts.

We will not be using AI. Everything we create at Crow’s Eye Productions is done from scratch. Research can go on for months before we start a project, and textile sourcing almost as long. Everything is made by me in my costume studio (except leatherwork) and I generally create the patterns too. 1/

This bridge, a favourite spot for photographers, is due for demolition in May and will not be replaced, so we took the opportunity for a bit of nighttime photography. Lincoln cathedral fills the horizon and is glowing in purple for Lent. #Lincoln #UK

I can’t compete with that glorious sofa/window/library, but here is my modest, snug study - I do love it though ❤️

For more on black people in Tudor England, see Dr. Kaufmann’s brilliant book, ‘Black Tudors’. The book is an extension of her Ph.D. thesis and is revelatory. #blackhistory @drmirandakaufmann.bsky.social

My current read is this extraordinary little book, published in America in 1929 and apparently only published in the UK for the first time nearly a century later. I love the fact that is a contemporary voice writing about her own time: 1920s New York. Ex-Wife the debut novel by Ursula Parrot.

As I managed to accidentally post Homer’s Iliad twice in my list of 20 books, here is a bonus one.

Pride and Prejudice was published on the 28th January 1813, but Jane Austen actually wrote the first draft much earlier, over a ten month period between 1796 and 1797. So when we decided to recreate Darcy, we decided to create him in the fashions of the 1790’s as Jane might first have imagined him.

The weather was windy and wet, and we only saw 17 birds, but that did include a buzzard wheeling low over the garden.

I have avoided all news of the felon, especially on Monday - I had a total media blackout, went for a swim, watched a film in front of the log fire and went for a evening walk in the rain.
