Starting Monday, the 80th session of the UN General Assembly will bring more than 140 world leaders to New York, along with impassable streets in Midtown East and intermittent closures citywide.

With the United Nations session kicking off Monday, the city is closing some streets and stepping up police presence. It is usually one of the slowest weeks for traffic in Midtown.

Russian Colonel General Alexander Lapin, former commander of the “North” group and the Leningrad Military District, has been dismissed from military service, according to russian media.

Lapin is famous for being responsible for huge russian military failures. His dismissal is not necessarily good.
