Models for net-zero scenarios suggest up to a doubling of electricity demand by 2050, so I am not surprised by the recent forecasts. What worries me is that we are not prepared to add the necessary generating and transmission capacity at the rates needed. 🔌💡

It is so amazing to see a small country like Rwanda, with such a tragic past, lead in climate action. Other countries could learn something from Rwanda.

That’s not totally accurate. If you charge an EV with coal electricity, there are likely no emissions reductions (see figure below from the IPCC AR6 report).
