To be honest, until I entered my first GoldStar place, the thought of having a bowl of Spaghetti covered in chilli, onion, cheese, and beans had never crossed my mind. We Brits can be uncultured at times.

I was a total newb when it came to chilli in 2000 when I moved there. I think over the two years I was there; I must have tried 20-30 different takes on the recipe. I never had the time to create my version, but maybe now would be a good time to start.

Ex-Wife introduced me to Cinci Chilli when I moved there for two years. This will probably be as criticised as your love of the stuff, but Goldstar all the way.
And yes, I sniggered like an English Bloke when my wife ordered a 4Way without warning, and the guy behind the counter didn't even blink.
