I like Bluesky, but it IS very totalitarian in what is and isn't permitted as an opinion. If the app ever starts rewarding like-seeking behavior it'll get way worse.

We all know it's surface-level BS because we are all in group chats where tongues are free. "I'd never say that on the TL!'

The best historical analogy for the current climate on the left is Mao's Cultural Revolution. Student-led, fueled by the most dangerous human emotion (resentment), Ideologues at its center, stripping society of its past, zero tolerance for dissent.

Bill's reign was great if you didn't care about single mothers or gay rights or the bombing campaigns to distract from his philandering. Yup, just swell.

Explaining to 19-year-old "leftists" today that one of the main things that used to separate us from right-wingers was our belief in the sanctity of free speech and freedom of expression in art.

I didn't think I could despise loyalist paramilitaries anymore, but learning the degree to which they worked with and supported apartheid South Africa has achieved it.

Someone posted this on Facebook saying it's the start of the revenge of the nerds. Man, I'd take the min to be a professional athlete over 100 mill from a tech company. Not even close which life I'd rather have lol

Remember that scene in Gladiator when Rome is going broke and everyone is hungry and Commodus puts on 1000 days of games to distract the citizens?

For the 97th time, you cannot come on here screaming about Elon and the evils of Twitter if you're still using Twitter as your main social media, and thus lining his pocket.

Haliburton's 2024-25 clutch run is going to be studied for decades.

Scoot improved dramatically from literally every spot from year one to two. Feels like he's gotten unfairly dismissed as a prospect off a very rough start and one very questionable media session.

I'm not saying Norm Powell is better than these guys, and age is a factor, but the price the Heat paid given how favorably he compares to way more expensive and regarded guards is interesting.

It's interesting how underwhelming Zion's career offensive-rating is, given how the most consistent position used to defend him is they are incredible offensively when he's right

The Wiggins/Kuminga comp is an apt one, purely in terms of impact (or lack of), frustrating because of the talent that's clearly evident, and impossible to peg.

Maybe Kuminga will have a spark in his next stop, but I'm doubtful.

Putting 22.5 mill of dead money on your books for the next 5 years for the rights to a 35-win ceiling is nasty, nasty work.

The anti-semitism claim here is wild. So, by this logic, if someone had called out the role of the Sudanese army and government during the genocide in Darfur, that would've been racist?
