"Wind guru", some say. Average golfer, I say. Working in wind energy since 1989. UK Agent for EMD's windPRO. Views my own. Retweets not an endorsement.
And there were even a few single turbines that pre-dated Delabole, such as the Berriedale turbine (a V17? installed in 1986)..., so you could say we're approaching 40 years.

Would certainly be interested. Your site has more insight than REF or the ROC register, where there is curtailment, it's true.

James, enjoy the site immensely. I've left you a "what I do with the data" comment!

Good pic for "spot the ball" 😂

Had the same thought last year when measles was on the rise. GP happy to oblige. No adverse reactions other than the sore arm.

Do we know which comparison days Octopus use? Would be nice if the app could tell you, then you'd know what you could save (in my case, not much as my battery is set to discharge then in any case).

If my maths is right, that's under £2 per customer per year. Doesn't seem too bad...

or a jack-up barge servicing one of the offshore turbines?

Bit more sun over in the east, and managed one day when we had negative prices which "cost" me -£0.48 for 47.85kWh including the standing charge (car was empty)!

Admittedly, as my PV is still on FiT, other than storing and using the excess, there's not much I can do. Recent "free" periods from Octopus have usually coincided with ultra-low or negative prices, meaning...

And, of course, (un)real-world views that everyone won't see (as they don't all fly in the air like the drone that presumably took them!), rather than street-level view where there's nothing to see...

@myhomeenergyhub.com predicting long periods of negative prices tomorrow...
August 4, 2025 at 9:50 AM
AFAIK, the Goldwind GW-150 is direct drive, so no gearbox to worry about (and no need to have a robot oil-changing dog on hand!).🐶🛢️

"Orientale" looks a bit different as well - chorizo and meguez?
July 30, 2025 at 2:46 PM
Would be interested to know if the wake s are estimated/modelled for each wind farm as a whole rather than individual turbines, as that would probably make more sense given the stated model resolution.

Very impressive!

Just had the first consultation meeting for a section of the GGU near here, 60km of new 400kV line. Second consultation with firmed route in a year, planning application after that. If all goes to plan, in place by 2033. No rush then!

Managed 4.39p using similar tactics!
July 3, 2025 at 11:45 AM
We've certainly come a long way from the 30m hubs of the late 1980s! No lifts then, of course 🥵

Yes couldn't believe this (well I could, really). Did the honourable member not think there was already occasional glare from the thousands of panels on houses and commercial buildings, even car windscreens and glass covered office blocks? That never seems to affect the Red Arrows or anyone else...

Agreed, if it's working, albeit slightly imperfectly, leave it alone. ~£200 minimum a year for the software, or accountant services, and the threshold reducing from £50k to £30k to £20k over coming years will trap most(?) self employed. All for what, letting HMRC know what tax is due every quarter.

More like Arsenal's "nearly successful" achievements over the last few seasons!

Is this not something @mygridgb.bsky.social's digital twin of the UK electricity market could model to provide some factual context to both Jackson's (and for that matter, @dalevince.com's) arguments for and against zonal pricing?
