The lazy morning ended up being quite an energetic one… went for a nice 4.5mile walk around Cromford! 😎

If you’re in / around Sheffield… you could do lot worse than track down Novel bookshop / cafe in Crookes - great space, really nice curated selection of books! 📚

My January reads… might look like a lot but I’m sure January was at least 94 days long this year.

All decent - not a duffer amongst ‘em. 😊

Always nice to read positive things about Derby in the press… and I couldn’t agree more with this in today’s Observer. The Joseph Wright gallery at @derbymuseums.bsky.social is a national treasure - outstanding - ‘The Orrery’ alone is a masterpiece of artistic, historic and scientific value. 😊

Popped into Derby today… eerily quiet, almost tranquil!

1. I just loved this book… a real character driven narrative, that looks at the mechanics of relationships (good and bad!), set in a seaside town that has perhaps seen better days. The characters that inhabit the book stayed with me for ages after I’d closed it for the last time. Brilliant. ❤️

2. I love Percival Everett - been hooked on his writing since the mighty Influx Press published ‘I Am Not Sidney Poitier’. ‘James’ is genius. Should’ve won the Booker.

3. I love Knausgaard’s writing, he has a way of being exact, narrow and detailed whilst at the same time painting something vast, expansive and ambitious.

I also realise I’m talking nonsense - let’s just say I enjoyed it!
