Here's 2002. Creed scores the Album of the Year. Linkin Park, Puddle of Mudd and Nickelback build on the previous year. Crow scores one of her biggest hits ever, but is eclipsed by Lavigne. Zombie's solo career gets bigger. Mayer and Johnson score big. Hoobastank takes new artist. Interesting year!

Here's 2001. The year of Linkin Park and Staind. The bands dominated the group and overall awards. On the women's side, Poe and Stevie Nicks were the big winners. For the men, Lenny Kravitz takes a few awards. Ozzy Osbourne makes a strong showing, as well. Lifehouse is the new artist of the year.
Here's 2000. Creed continues to dominate, but a new band called 3 Doors Down begins to make some noise. Other new artists include Papa Roach, Linkin Park, and Nickelback. Kid Rock takes all of the men's awards. Shannon Curfman and Sarah McLachlan take the women's awards. Some decent music for Y2K.

Here's 2000. Creed continues to dominate, but a new band called 3 Doors Down begins to make some noise. Other new artists include Papa Roach, Linkin Park, and Nickelback. Kid Rock takes all of the men's awards. Shannon Curfman and Sarah McLachlan take the women's awards. Some decent music for Y2K.

Here's 1998. Lenny Kravitz and Sarah McLachlan become superstars. Creed comes out of nowhere and scores big. Soundtracks have a renaissance, with three finishing in the top 10 albums of the year. Matchbox 20 has even bigger success this year and scores the album of the year.

Here's 1995. The year of Hootie and Alanis. They both released monster debut albums, but Bush takes the overall new artist award. Live and Collective Soul win a few categories, with Pearl Jam, Green Day, and The Cranberries also having a great year. Tom Petty has an excellent year as a solo artist.

Here's 1994. Grunge/alternative is in full swing. A huge year for Counting Crows, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day, and Pearl Jam. In mainstream rock, Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, Meat Loaf, Melissa Etheridge, Bonnie Raitt and Sheryl Crow have great years. An awesome year!

Here's 1984. Van Halen, The Cars, and Bruce Springsteen achieved their commercial peaks. Duran Duran and Huey Lewis and the News became superstars. An unusual girl releases her debut and gets a lot of AOR airplay. "Hair" bands begin to make their presence known. A great year for music!

Here's 1983. The Police had a massive year, but on the rock charts Def Leppard and Journey were even more successful. David Bowie has his biggest commercial success. Pat Benatar and Stevie Nicks duke it out, with the Witch coming out victorious. One of my favorite musical years of the 80's!
