Writing about city council in Regina, Saskatchewan. Co-host of the Queen City Improvement Bureau on 91.3FM CJTR - www.queencityib.com. Columns in Prairie Dog Magazine. There will be swearing. Proceed at your own risk.
You could start by calling 777-7000 and ask to talk to someone in the Access and Privacy Team? They just lay out what you're after and maybe they'll give you a sense of what you're up against. I've had very good luck calling that number.

I'm told really focused requests can be pretty reasonable. And you'd think that recent ridership data would be a quick date-limited query, press export. But I don't know. Wouldn't hurt to contact the city and ask. If they're like, "Please, no" you'll probably get a big bill.

But I didn't say much at the time b/c I thought, what're the odds that treating tetanus exposure with homeopathy is going to catch on?

Very high, as it turns out.

The antivaxx bullshit has def gotten worse post-pandemic but it's hardly new. The alt-health bullshit I had to put up w/ in the mom&tots groups I attended as a stay-at-home dad in the 00s was near fucking constant.

Also: I'm very fucking tired of how we have to fucking coddle these fucking knuckleheads who've been fucking suckered by anti-vaxx bullshit. They've put all of our lives at risk but we're supposed to feel sorry for them? Fuck that.

Have you granted approval to an authority to appoint a third party to oversee the implementation of your getting in shape?

Of course, could be the nature of the timeline that it focuses just on the bureaucratic side & ignores the actual on-the-ground actions taken. Especially since a lot of the front line work is by 3rd party groups like Namerind, Phoenix, the Street Team. #yqrcc

Thing is, timeline makes it look like what the city has done is:
• plan
• approve plans
• approve authority to implement aspects of plans
• hire people (maybe?)
• appoint 3rd parties
• appoint other 3rd parties
• create acronyms #yqrcc

I don't know if many folks know this but, once you get an access to info response, you have the docs to yourself for a bit then, after 6 weeks, it gets released on Open Regina for the public. It's a fun way to find out what @alexanderquon.bsky.social was doing two months ago!

A tiny bit. They cost too much for my budget of zero dollars.

Have you explored Open Regina? A lot of data is there already — either proactively posted by the city or already released through an ATIP request. openregina.ca

I did not know this! Thanks!

Oh my god! I remember when the F&B stuff was passed by council. It was sold as low-to-no risk for the city!

This stadium has been a hose job from day one. #yqrcc

Oooh! A coalition of associations! That's how you know it's not made up!

Aware house is awesome! I buy incense there. They have a small but very interesting fiction section in their books. And they have fun curios.

Also: Cuppa T' is where we get our fancy brews. And we bought our dining room table at Paper Umbrella (that I love — best purchase of last decade).

Oh… also… I doubt they'd survive accessibility standards nowadays because they rely on stairs. #yqrcc

My understanding (from my limited reading on the topic) is that people hate them and won't use them. They're kind of miserable (it's like being in a cage). And they add distance to a walk, meaning people will either just risk crossing the road on foot or drive somewhere else. (usually the latter)
