Stop vilifying British wildlife. Learn to appreciate its beauty and understand its importance. The desire to eradicate it demonstrates a lack of empathy and insight. We are arrogant and complacent as a species but are only one of many inhabiting the planet all of which have the right to coexist.

Stop wildlife destruction in the UK. Petition. Report. Protest. Complain. Photograph. Video. Document. Take action to prevent. Share concerns online. Name and shame. Consider legal action. Enough is enough. Stop people from getting away with it. Wildlife has little protection and needs our help.

The beautiful British fox. Those involved in trail hunting claim that they are not doing anything wrong. There has been one recorded incident of a pregnant fox being torn to pieces and its entrails being left for all to see and another of a live fox being placed in a bag and hidden underground.

I’m concerned about what I’ve heard about how the Royal Family treat wildlife. There have been reports of them illegally shooting raptors as well as injuring or killing foxes (and other animals) in snares. They’ve received public money to manage the land to benefit the environment. Must do better!

With over 12.5 million cats in the UK, studies have estimated that each year our “fluffy” felines catch between 100-270 million prey items. A cat is a domesticated species that doesn’t belong outside. Cats shouldn’t have access to native species. Keep them indoors or do without them.

Today is National Robin Day. Help this national treasure by providing food, shelter and suitable nest sites. There is a plethora of wildlife charities and other organisations which provide advice and supply products designed to improve things for British wildlife.

The rook - a farmland bird. Their UK population has decreased by around 25% between 1995 and 2023. They are on the Amber List in the UK and the Red List in Wales. They nest together in a rookery. Rookeries are disappearing at an alarming rate. The birds are being shot and the nests/trees removed.

True progress is not measured by the number of houses built or miles of road laid but by the ecosystems we preserve and the species we protect.

An amazing book by Graham Harvey. It explores how agricultural intensification has destroyed the British countryside contributing to the loss of many of our wildlife species. It was published in 1997. What a shame that recent statistics indicate that the loss of farmland birds has not been halted.

The destruction or conversion of farm buildings has significant negative effects on wildlife by causing habitat loss, fragmentation and a decline in biodiversity. Old stone barns and derelict buildings are vital breeding and roosting sites for species like barn owls and swifts.
