I am giving myself a few weeks before I etch my Top 2024 list in stone (Letterboxd). But even though I think this is a fairly strong Oscars year, an awards show picked by me would include a lot more Hitman, Challengers, Love Lies Bleeding, Red Rooms, Evil Does Not Exist, and Furiousa.

El Mal is good! I wish the rest of Emilia Perez was anywhere near that level or even remained interested in anything that song was dealing with thematically!

Watching the Oscars and love that the guy I follow on Letterboxd that always has logged the weirdest genre/exploitation movies from like Italy in the 70's just won an Academy Award. Sean Baker is a real one.

Owners accepting the Lombardi trophy is as lame as producers accepting the Best Picture Oscar. Each team should have a recognizable representative. It should be Gritty or the Always Sunny cast up there.

Seems appropriate since I can only assume that we have this administration in large part due to microplastics in the brain. The next order will be about going back to lead paint.

I love Annette Bening and she would have an Oscar by now if it were up to me for 20th Century Women. But I really wish Greta Lee nabbed that Best Actress spot for Past Lives, my personal favorite of the year.

I know they are everyone's favorite martyr right now, but FSU took the coward's way out in having so many opt outs to hide behind instead of risking getting blown away with a full squad but still having the chance to prove themselves.
