Haven’t tried. I swapped a iPhone 5 battery once, that was relatively easy. I’ve found androids to eat battery power much faster than Apple, tho I haven’t gotten a new android device in a few years. I’d expect they have improved in that area.

The MagSafe feature helps with older battery life a bit. Not as nice as a new battery swap but has its advantages as well.

With older devices it’s a good idea to wait for the *.1 or *.2 release to be out a bit and then read reviews about the os on that specific model. Often it’s fine but once in a while it’s best not to upgrade until when/if issues are addressed in subsequent releases.
