I think our book chapter is a good addition to the existing research on foundation universities. Our study connects well with the studies by Kuusela, Poutanen, Tervasmäki, Tomperi, Harju, Kaleva and Raipola whose work we have utilised as a base for our work parempiyliopisto.wordpress.com

Through our analysis, we argue that the foundation university policy has been moderately successful. The achievement of goals has either failed or been unclear, and the financial capacity of foundations shows potential at best.

In our chapter, we look at the two Finnish foundation universities, Aalto University and Tampere University, and compare them to public universities, analysing the extent to which the political goals of the reform have been met.
