I’m a landscape artist in SW New Mexico. Art from the heart, sunshine for the soul!
Sometimes I look back at older work and realize how much my style has evolved. This piece reminds me how far I’ve come — and how much I still love painting the beauty of New Mexico. 💚 "Standing in the Shadow", watercolor on paper, ca. 2002

No painting happening this week — just soaking up every moment with my grandson.
Stepping away from the studio reminds me that sometimes, creativity is about living, laughing, and filling your heart with inspiration.

Spending a few days with our grandson — soaking up the laughter, and maybe a little mischief too. 💛
While I’m taking a break from painting, you can still explore my artwork and journals online anytime:

This week reminded me that even small steps count — a few hours painting, connecting with art lovers at the gallery, and working on my website.
Whatever you’re working toward, keep going. 🌱

Here’s a little peek at what’s currently on my easel! 🌄
I'm working on painting more loosely, and letting the brushstrokes show. I’m loving where this one is headed — what do you think?

Here's a peek at a detail from my current painting. Oil on canvas. This was inspired by a trip to Chiricahua National Monument in SE Arizona.

This Sunday I’m reflecting on resilience — in nature, in art, in life. What helps you stay grounded and inspired during uncertain times?

This photo was taken on a drive through the Gila Wilderness years ago. Looking at it now, I’m reminded why I create. What place in nature feeds your soul?

The air outside is fresh from the cleansing rain. The clouds are heavy with patches of clear blue sky. Life is good. It's so good to be back in the studio! Work in progress, 16x40" oil on canvas.

Back in my studio this week. Working on the latest painting and enjoying the cooler weather. ☀️💛 Grateful for every calm moment. (Steps at El Morro)

We explored stunning landscapes just before the fire, and I came back full of inspiration. I'm finally getting back into the studio to do some painting today! Photos are of El Morro National Monument south of Grants, New Mexico.

There’s a quiet lesson in all this: let go of what you can’t control. As hard as that is, it creates space — for peace, for perspective, for deeper meaning. Nature does this constantly. Maybe I can learn to do the same.

Art doesn’t require perfection. It asks for presence. Some of my most meaningful pieces started during times of transition or emotional upheaval. This one is a work in progress I brought with me to hopefully work on during our evacuation. Hopefully, the rain will come soon so we can go home.

The view outside my studio window. I miss it. Isn’t it strange how small things take root in our hearts? Being away has reminded me of the deep connection I have to this land — and how much I carry it with me.

I may not be in my studio right now or have a space to set up my easel — but I can still scroll through photos, share my journey here, and imagine myself back in that familiar, comforting place. It’s a gentle reminder: even when everything feels up in the air, I’m still here. I’m still an artist.

I’m away from my home, evacuated due to the wildfire burning nearby. It’s made me reflect deeply on what truly matters. It’s not “stuff.” This painting was inspired by a photo I took of a hillside up the valley that has most likely been burned by the fire.

Sunday afternoons always invite me to slow down and reflect. The quiet moments—hikes in the forest, watching the sky shift, sipping coffee in the studio—fuel the creativity that shows up on the canvas.

I’m grateful for the chance to share my work. What are you grateful for today?

Throwback to one of the pieces that started it all. This painting reminds me how far I’ve come in 25 years—and how much beauty there is in the journey. Do you remember the first creative project that lit your fire?
