🖋️ “Protect public education: invest in our children” hit 250 signers!

💬 Text SIGN PYCDIW to 50409
Protect public education: invest in our children
Text SIGN PYCDIW to 50409 — I urge you to stand against efforts to dismantle the Department of Education. The administration is using misleading language—like “returning education to the states”—to obscure the consequences: millions of students, particularly those in lower-income communities and students with disabilities, could lose access to the resources they need to succeed. Weakening federal education programs threatens the foundation of opportunity and equity in our public schools. For decades, the Department of Education has ensured that every student—regardless of background—has access to a quality education. It enforces civil rights protections, funds school meal programs, and provides essential support through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504. Without these programs, students and families will be left without critical resources that help them thrive. Congress plays a vital role in ensuring that education remains a national priority. Reducing federal oversight does not strengthen schools—it weakens protections, deepens inequality, and places unnecessary burdens on families and educators. These changes do not address the real challenges our schools face but instead create uncertainty for students, teachers, and parents working hard to build a better future. More than 90% of students—and 95% of students with disabilities—attend public schools that depend on Department of Education programs. My own child benefited from a 504 Plan, which provided the necessary support for success. Millions of students with ADHD, anxiety, autism, and other conditions rely on these protections. Limiting these programs will make it harder for students to receive the education they deserve. This is not about politics—it is about ensuring that every child has the same opportunities to learn and grow, no matter where they live or their circumstances. Dismantling the Department of Education will have long-term consequences for students, families, and our country’s future. I urge you to oppose any efforts to defund or weaken the Department of Education. Public education must remain strong, equitable, and accessible to all. Please stand up for students, educators, and communities by protecting the programs that support them. Ensure strong schools. Protect public education. Invest in our children’s future.
