this is one metric i live by that proves getting roasted on the internet does not matter.

But if you think about it... that actually makes sense because curiosity often implies that the "thing" was interesting, new, and maybe they were just early to it.

"Yeah i went on ahrefs and found a keyword and built around that now it makes millions".

What is more common is the founder was generally curious about something and started building. Sometimes, the trend "blew up" later and they look smart and/or lucky in hindsight.

Yes, it's true that most successful, fast-growing businesses are built on a growing trend, but I VERY RARELY see successful founders actually went through that process in that order. In my thousands of interviews with founders, it's VERY RARE to hear something like...

I've thought a lot about this and generally speaking, I'm bearish on this simplified process shared online that usually goes like:

1. Do research on trends
2. Build a business around that trend
