So we should let a fascist act fascistically but not apply the label until fairly late in his fascist rein? Seriously? Believe me, when full blown fascism arrives, you will be far to preoccupied with survival to assign labels. This is crazy

What is the upside in not using "fascist" if it is accurate? Why soft- pedal this? BTW: Real fascists, Neo-Nazis, etc. don't quibble over their labels. They are proud of them and use them with bravado.

One of my absolute fav Orwell essays. I used to teach it alongside the 1984 appendix on Newspeak. I never thought I'd be this close to living in the time of Authoritarian Agitprop.
