The roots of Zero Waste Quilting go back to 2017 but it would be another four years before the concept truly took root and another two years to create the projects and write the book. I pour my heart and soul into the books I write so when a magazine offers a glowing review I'm often speechless.

We had a perfect early spring day yesterday. I was trying to capture a video of a quilt blowing in the breeze. The wind, and my dog, had other ideas.

I did eventually get the video but this is too fun not to share. We could all use some more laughter these days.

Rarely do I plan a quilt before I make it (I call this designing backwards) but for Therapy and Metamorphosis, I actually had a plan AHEAD of time. It was really nice, to be honest. Regardless of how you design a quilt, it takes time.

This is a program for teenagers with serious disabilities who are finishing high school and transitioning to their next steps in life. Trump just axed it, effective immediately, in the middle of the night, with no notice.

Today I'm sharing my Wipe Your Face reusable face wipes. ♻️

This mug rug is the fifth project I made using leftover fabric from Metaphor. As scraps got smaller and smaller I found myself really thinking about how to use them.

Today I'm sharing my Coffee Goes Here. ☕️

This mug rug is the fourth project I made using leftover fabric from Metaphor. I had a few rogue blocks remaining after I made the pie carrier and what goes with pie? Coffee, of course!

Today I'm sharing my Cute as Pie Carrier. 🌸

This pie carrier is the third project I made using leftover fabric from Metaphor. 🌸

Originally I planned to make a doll quilt using my scraps but it wasn't coming together - I'd managed to make a creepy doll quilt!

Today I'm sharing my project, Best Foot Forward. 🌸

Best Foot Forward is the second project I created using leftovers from Metaphor. This darling shoe or gift bag is easy to make using strips of leftover fabric and any ribbon or trim you have on hand.

Sawing Logs.

Sometimes in an attempt to have the leftovers from your projects used, you need to add fabric. It seems counter intuitive but for this quilt it worked.

Sawing Logs is the second quilt pattern in my book, Zero Waste Quilting. The center Log Cabins were leftover pieces from Metaphor.

I call this the fabric shuffle. 💃🏻

I'm currently recording a class for my quilt, Misunderstood, for C&T's Creative Spark Learning platform. In this video you can see how I took a stack of possibilities and arranged them by value to assess what I had and what I needed.

Metaphor is the first quilt in Zero Waste Quilting. This quilt was made using a collection of scraps, though it appears as if the pieces are from a cohesive collection. I love this quilt because it shows how you can group wildly different fabrics together but when you have enough pieces they play

Monday is BOOK RELEASE DAY! I’m so proud of this book. It’s all about how we can minimize our footprint by taking a mindful approach to what we buy and how we use it. Refuse to buy in excess. Redesign our textile use. Beginning to end use of goods.

When words fail me, I turn to art.

Quilt I made ca.1995, taken apart, dyed with black walnut shells, stamped.
