Archaeologist and associate prof of Anthropology at Arizona State University. I mostly “skeet” (is that what we’re calling it?) about archaeology, baseball, stuff I cook, and the weather.
I’ve eaten this a lot but never made it myself until tonight. Lemongrass chicken on vermicelli noodles with fresh and pickled vegetables from our garden. From the garden: lemongrass, lettuce, carrots, daikon, cilantro, green onion, garlic, cucumber, and chile. Super funky and yummy with fish sauce.

Super cool. My grandfather’s old International Harvester tractor that I learned to drive as a kid was looking rough but was given to a friend after he passed. They fixed it up and it’s now being used for local events. It’s named ‘Ol Cecil’ after my grandfather. Glad people can still enjoy it!

More rain than all of 2024 in just 24 hours followed by one of the brightest rainbows I’ve ever seen

We got more rain in the last four hours than we have for the entire year before today.

I used this prompt in chatGPT to extract data from an archaeological report where I already had the data so that I could check accuracy. Much of the extracted information comes from paragraphs and not tables and it worked well. This will save me so much time even if I have to check things manually.

It’s finally time to say goodbye to my faithful laser printer nicknamed Rocky IV (after Paulie’s robot). It served well for 23 years. It ran on parallel port but stood strong since Windows 2000 with a laptop dock as a USB converter. It can no longer print without jamming and it deserves a rest.

We 3D printed a display for some of my son's Lego minifigs. Turned out pretty cool!

Just got a cool Mesoamerican art themed Katamari Damacy sticker from Retro Nerd Studios. I bought a Metroid print from them years ago when they were in the gallery attached to the my old downtown Archaeology Southwest office in Tucson. I need more office art!

Got a chest freezer which is useful, but I’m more excited that we finally have a place that fits all our National Park Service magnets.

The place where I’m staying has a Coneheads the movie cup from a Subway promotion from 1993. “consume mass quantities”

Melissa grew some sugar rush peach peppers and we made a tasty hot sauce complete with a bottle label. Somewhere between a jalapeño and a habanero in spiciness so it can be used in lots of stuff.

Flash back to that time Melissa was really missing Turkish food so I made her a feast!

Nearly 4 years ago my son had a Godzilla themed birthday party and we just found a balloon from that party behind his bookcase and it still has a little air in it.
