My grandma was in a sanatorium with TB in 1951, during the 1st two years of her marriage. These are pics of her and her friends at the sanatorium in Mount Morris, NY. The stories she would tell were wild. After she went home, she had to return every week to have her “lungs drained.”

James was my favorite, too. The Love Elixir of Augusta Stern by Lynda Cohen Loigman was the most surprising read for me this year. Had low expectations but fell in love with every part of it.
